Go Make Disciples

INTRODUCTION:

Christianity began as a disciple-making movement. Jesus began with a small group of men whom you and I would never think would become the incredible and history-altering leaders they became. This small band of disciples would challenge everything that we know, this group would change history like no other group has or will ever do. From 12 disciples led by Jesus to now an estimated 2.1 billion disciples world-wide Christianity is the largest and fastest growing religion in history. This small disciple-making movement truly changed everything.

Yet somehow, we’ve forgotten what happened. We’ve lost the drive and urgency to repeat what Jesus did. Worse, we no longer see the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) as something to be obeyed, but rather we see it as something that a select group are called to do. We’ve forgotten that this is how Christianity began and how it is to be continued by design!

This sermon series, therefore, is an examination of this subject seeking to answer the question, “How did Jesus make disciples?” It studies Jesus’ disciple-making principles used in the four gospels (Matthew, Make, Luke and John) and looks at the church in the book of Acts as the result of Jesus’ ministry of making disciples chronicled in the gospels.
